As the art of bellydance continues to grow in popularity, it is finding its way into more & more theatrical settings & is making it mark as a legitimate theatrical dance form. More dance companies than ever before are now producing full theatrical bellydance shows complete with casts of characters, story lines & drama.
It’s a good idea for teachers to strive to always be aware of the overall motivation levels in class and respond appropriately, being willing make modifications where/when need be. The issue of challenge ~ In order for students to grow in ability there must be the presence of challenge. If the demands of the exercises presented in class correspond to the ability of the individual then the student will be challenged and motivation will stay high. Bring meaning to class ~ Students are more enthused and motivated when they understand why they are doing certain exercises in class. I explain to my students “this certain exercise or drill will prepare them to achieve this particular goal”. Continue reading
