Bringing meaning to class

Bring meaning to class ~ Students are more enthused and motivated when they understand why they are doing certain exercises in class. I explain to my students “this certain exercise or drill will prepare them to achieve this particular goal”. Students work harder when they know that they are working towards a goal such as refinement of a technique, advancement in skill or a role in an upcoming performance, for example. Enhancing the involvement of your students by encouraging them to express suggestions relating to the focus of class will also increase their personal sense of commitment to learn. Ask your students what they aspire to gain from bellydance class and strive to support the overall goals of your students through your teaching. This will enhance the teacher/student rapport and bolster the awareness of purpose in class.
